Now that some of limitations are being lifted for the COVID-19 restrictions, I could not wait to get back outside and visit my local community. Although the larger grocery store chains have remained open during the Pandemic, my weekly shopping trips have been quick and stressful.

  • Great prices on bulk items such as citrus, herbs and root vegetables
  • The owners remember frequent customers and provide Amazing service
  • No overcrowded isles or long check out lanes (Makes for easier Social Distancing)
  • Local food supports local families within your community

Can you believe that all of the items in my basket above were approx. ~$10.99 in cost. What a lovely rainbow assortment of Fruits and Vegetables that I get to make some really nice recipes with this week.

Here are some of the ways I plan to incorporate these locally grown items in my meals:

  • Green Banana – Boiled or Baked as a Side Dish
  • Red Onion – Topping for fish Tacos
  • Lime – Juiced and squeezed on any Seafood dish
  • Bell Pepper – Add to scramble eggs at breakfast
  • Ginger root – Homemade Ginger Tea
  • Tomato – Sliced on a Hearty Tuna Sandwich
  • Orange – Snack item
  • Scotch Bonnet – Added to almost every dish that I make
